The three heroes materialized on Elyrian soil, the crackling energy of their teleportation spell dissipating like mist under the morning sun. Aria breathed a soft sigh of relief, the tension leaving her shoulders. “We’re here. My mother waits at Jasmine Manor.”
The landscape unfolded before them in a deceivingly peaceful panorama—rolling hills blanketed in lavender and chamomile, the gentle breeze carrying their sweet, calming scent. SeventhSight took the lead, his vigilant eyes sweeping the horizon for any hidden threats. Thea walked shoulder-to-shoulder with him, her hand resting instinctively on the hilt of her dagger. Aria followed closely behind, her senses heightened by the familiar yet altered magical resonance of her homeland.
As they crested the final hill, Jasmine Manor came into view. The ancient stone walls were heavily cloaked in dark ivy, and the unlit windows stared back at them like hollow, lifeless eyes.
Suddenly, Thea stopped dead in her tracks. “Do you feel that?” she whispered, the air around them growing heavy.
SeventhSight nodded, his eyes narrowing. “It’s dark magic.”
As if on cue, the heavy iron gates of the manor shrieked in protest, swinging open of their own accord. A solitary figure stood in the shadowy archway. It was Eliana. She was petite, her long, curly brown hair framing a face pale with terror. Her piercing green eyes were wide, and stark crimson bloodstains ruined the pristine white of her dress.
SeventhSight closed the distance swiftly. “What happened, Eliana?”SeventhSight closed the distance swiftly. “What happened, Eliana?”
Eliana’s eyes darted frantically. “Erebus…” she whispered urgently. “He sent something for me.”
With a fluid motion, SeventhSight drew his blade. The weapon was a masterpiece of lethal artistry—a pitch-black blade contrasted by a stark white handle wrapped tightly in black cord, anchored by a heavy bronze guard forged in the shape of a snarling dragon. Thea mirrored his readiness, her dagger flashing in the dimming light.
Eliana’s gaze locked onto SeventhSight, then drifted in sheer terror to the encroaching shadows behind her. “Erebus…” she repeated, her voice trembling. “He sent a wraith.”
“Where is it?” Thea stepped forward, positioning herself between Eliana and the darkness.
Suddenly, the shadows behind Eliana began to writhe.

The Wraith’s Warning
The darkness violently coalesced, giving birth to a towering, gaunt figure. Its eyes burned with a sickly emerald fire, and its mere presence sucked the warmth from the air, leaving a biting frost in its wake. Eliana stumbled backward, seeking refuge behind SeventhSight.
“By the Order of the Veil…” Thea cursed under her breath.
SeventhSight surged forward, closing the gap before halting with his blade leveled at the creature’s chest.
The wraith spoke, its voice a hollow, scraping sound like winter wind tearing through dry leaves. “Eliana… Erebus claims you.” Its burning emerald eyes shifted from the terrified woman to the three heroes standing in its path. “And he warns off her guardians.”
SeventhSight’s grip on the white handle tightened until his knuckles paled.
The wraith glided a fraction of an inch closer. SeventhSight raised his dragon-guarded sword, the black steel absorbing the ambient moonlight. The creature halted, its gaze drawn to the weapon.
“Courage…” the wraith hissed, “or foolishness?”
“Both,” SeventhSight replied coldly. “Leave now.”
For a breathless second, the tension held. Then, the wraith dissolved, melting back into the inky shadows from whence it came. The moment it vanished, Eliana’s legs gave out, and she collapsed to the damp earth.

The Shadow of Erebus
SeventhSight sheathed his sword and knelt, gripping her arm to help her steady herself. She clung to him with desperate strength. “He wins if you don’t hear me out.”
Thea watched the exchange with intense scrutiny. SeventhSight held Eliana’s gaze, giving a curt nod for her to continue.
Taking a shaky breath, Eliana began. “Erebus was once my love… and my family’s greatest enemy.” Her voice dropped to a barely audible whisper as the memories surfaced. She pictured him clearly in her mind’s eye: the striking, bald Caucasian man with his chiseled features and pale skin. She remembered the menacing scar etched above his left eyebrow, the piercing, ice-blue eyes that missed nothing, and the impeccably tailored black suits that projected an aura of elite sophistication and former luxury.
“He became obsessed with gaining the power to destroy my family’s legacy—the Elyrian Artifact,” Eliana explained, shuddering at the thought of the eerie, glowing blue staff Erebus now carried, a weapon that seemed to visibly drain the life force from the air around him.
She glanced nervously at Thea, then back to SeventhSight. “Your kind seeks the artifact too.”
Thea’s eyes flashed with betrayal, snapping toward SeventhSight, but his expression remained a mask of unyielding stone.
“Erebus is proposing an alliance with your enemy… the Order of the Veil,” Eliana continued, watching his reaction carefully. “Together, they plan to crush your rebellion.”
SeventhSight’s gaze burned with a sudden, fierce intensity.
“We need to hear the rest of this inside,” Thea commanded, breaking the heavy silence.
Eliana nodded vigorously. “Quickly, before he sends another.”

The Ritual Revealed
Eliana turned and fled through the heavy wooden doors of Jasmine Manor. SeventhSight fell in right behind her, with Aria and Thea covering their flanks. As they stepped over the threshold, the doors slammed shut behind them with a deafening thud, locking out the night.
Inside, the warm, flickering candlelight clashed with the eerie, suffocating silence of the lavishly decorated halls. Eliana led them deep into the heart of the manor, finally pushing open the heavy oak doors of a grand study.
As she turned to face them, SeventhSight’s eyes bypassed her, locking onto a disturbing detail on the ornate rug.
A massive, leather-bound tome lay discarded on the floor. The pages were heavily splattered with fresh blood.
“Eliana,” SeventhSight pointed to the floor. “What happened here?”
Her eyes darted to the grisly scene and filled with fresh tears. “Erebus’s minion… it attacked my maid. Aria’s aunt hadn’t arrived yet, but my guard fought back. He was wounded and dropped that book. It was open to this exact page when I found it.”
SeventhSight approached the tome with measured steps, crouching to inspect the parchment. The illustration depicted a horrifying dark ritual, meant to conjure an entity of pure nightmare.
Thea leaned over his shoulder and gasped softly.
The creature detailed on the blood-stained page was a grotesque, unholy amalgamation. It possessed the multi-legged, skittering exoskeleton of a colossal arachnid, but its body was woven from twisted, reanimated flesh and bone. Jagged, chitinous armor plated its back, and its primary limbs ended in massive, bone-fused scythes designed to butcher and consume.
SeventhSight’s eyes narrowed to slits as he took in the horrifying fusion of dead tissue and insectoid lethality.
“That is Erebus’s plan,” Eliana whispered, her voice trembling as she stared at the drawing. “He intends to summon the Devourer.”
