The metallic room dissolved around us in a swirl of blinding energy.
We materialized deep within Erebus’s fortress, The Abyssal Spire, standing directly inside his Private Throne Room. On a pedestal before us, the Chronal Core glowed ominously, Aria’s trapped energy pulsing frantically within its crystalline shell.
“Erebus must be distracted,” I whispered. I slammed a palm against a hidden control panel, triggering a base-wide lockdown. Alarms instantly began to blare outside the chamber.
From the hallway, the chaotic shouts of guards rang out. “Master Erebus, intruders breached the east wing!”
Erebus’s furious voice thundered back over the comms, echoing through the stone halls. “Capture them, alive!”
With only seconds left, I grabbed SeventhSight’s hand and forced it onto the Chronal Core.
“Recall the melody,” I urged, my heart racing as I guided his focus. “Aria sang it softly, her eyes locked on yours under the old oak tree…”
He closed his eyes. The memory flooded back, and Aria’s gentle voice echoed through the silence of his mind.
As if reading his mind, Kairos’s voice came through the comms, dripping with cruel satisfaction. “Yes, SeventhSight. Master Erebus intends to trap Aria in a 3.72-second time dilation cycle. Her powers will be bound, and she will be entirely helpless to escape or warn your allies.”
