NGP: Episode 10 – The Nexarion

Before we could draw our weapons, his figure violently blurred. Reality seemed to tear around him as he fractured into four identical, terrifyingly synchronized Nexarion bodies.

Kairos-Alpha stood the tallest, his eyes blazing yellow like forge embers, charging directly toward SeventhSight with dual katanas drawn. Kairos-Bravo crackled with volatile energy, his hands glowing blindingly blue-white as he locked his targeting telemetry onto me. Kairos-Charlie unsheathed wicked, serrated short blades, moving with swift, deadly grace to engage Aria in close-quarters combat.

And Kairos-Delta—a hulking mass of raw Nexarion muscle—loomed right behind Eliana, his massive fists clenched for a crushing blow.

SeventhSight drew his sword in a flash of steel, its blade instantly shimmering with ancient, glowing runes. His shoulder-length dark hair whipped in the sudden rush of displaced air as he squared off against Kairos-Alpha.

“Protect Eliana!” he roared.

But we were a second too late.

Kairos-Delta lunged, his massive arms wrapping around Eliana like an inescapable vice. She screamed, her elemental magic flaring wildly in a desperate bid for freedom, but the dense Nexarion armor of Delta’s body simply absorbed the brilliant blast of lightning.

Aria cried out in horror, her focus snapping toward Eliana. It was the only opening Kairos-Charlie needed. His short blade lashed out, landing a glancing but brutal blow that sent Aria stumbling backward into the dirt.

I didn’t have time to help her. I unleashed a barrage of mathematically precise strikes against Kairos-Bravo, but his devastating energy blasts forced me to constantly dodge and weave, the ground exploding wherever I stepped.

Nearby, SeventhSight clashed with Kairos-Alpha, their swords ringing out in deadly harmony. Alpha’s dual katanas sliced through the air mere inches from SeventhSight’s face. In retaliation, SeventhSight brought his ancient sword down in a vicious arc, biting deep into Alpha’s chest armor in a shower of sparks—but the Nexarion clone didn’t even flinch.

“Stop Erebus…!” Eliana’s desperate voice faded into the darkness as Kairos-Delta began dragging her backward into the encroaching shadows.

SeventhSight instantly pivoted, abandoning his duel with Alpha to sprint toward Delta and rescue her. But Kairos-Alpha had anticipated the heroic impulse. With a blindingly swift strike, Alpha slammed the hilt of his katana into SeventhSight’s shoulder armor. Metal sparked and shrieked, sending SeventhSight crashing violently into the gravestones. His vision clearly blurred as he struggled to rise, but it was over.

Kairos-Delta vanished into the night with Eliana.

But two figures held their ground. Xandria and Thorne. Their eyes blazed with dark magic.

Erebus’s hologram sneered, tapping his glowing blue staff. “My most powerful servants will crush your insolence!”

Xandria and Thorne raised their staffs, their voices weaving together in foul harmony:

“Mordecai revenant… Animus mortis…”

The damp earth ruptured. Skeletons clawed through the dirt clutching rusted iron. Rotting corpses with sunken eyes hauled themselves from centuries-old graves.

SeventhSight charged. His hands erupted with pure dark energy, hurling devastating blasts that ripped through the undead horde like a scythe through wheat. Bone shattered like fragile porcelain; rotting flesh dissolved into swirling clouds of necrotic dust.

But Xandria laughed. She thrust her staff down, fusing the ruined corpses into a colossal Graveyard Golem. Beside her, Thorne conjured a swirling vortex of vengeful, mournful spirits that boxed us in.

The suffocating dark vanished, replaced instantly by the warm, golden sunlight of Elyria. I stumbled as my boots hit the soft earth, gasping in the clean, sweet air.

Aria turned to SeventhSight, the adrenaline of our escape giving way to a gentle, probing emotion. “Why did you still save me, SeventhSight?” she asked, stepping closer. “You once loved me… Does that love remain? Even if only as an ember—a bond that forever claims me as yours?”

SeventhSight looked away, his jaw tightening in reluctant acknowledgment. His silence stretched, heavy and profound.

“You don’t deny it,” Aria whispered, her eyes locking intensely onto his. “Your silence confirms what I’ve hoped for years. Did saving me just now mean your feelings never fully died?”

My own heart skipped a beat. I stood quietly beside him, an accidental intruder watching an intensely intimate moment unfold.
