Malakar’s voice echoed through the warehouse, his words dripping with an otherworldly accent,
“While ambushing the soldiers who were about to ambush you was pretty impressive, SeventhSight, you’re too late to stop the Carrionborn Plague. But there’s still a way to end this… find the Carrionlord. She’s hiding in the ancient ruins of Zerzura, deep within the heart of the Scorpion’s Tail desert.”

SeventhSight’s eyes narrowed, “Why are you telling me this, Malakar? What’s in it for you?

Malakar smiled, his expression twisted, “Let’s just say… I have my reasons. But be warned, SeventhSight, you’re not the only one searching for the Carrionlord. My… associates are closing in on the ruins as we speak. But I only fear one person stopping them… you.”

Aria stepped forward, her hand on her staff, “We’ll never let that happen, Malakar. We’ll stop the Carrionborn, no matter what it takes.”

Malakar chuckled, “We’ll see about that.”

Malakar raised his hand, and the air around him seemed to distort. He vanished into thin air, leaving SeventhSight and Aria alone in the warehouse.

SeventhSight turned to Aria, “We need to get to Zerzura. Now.

Aria nodded, “I’ll get the car ready. You grab your sword.”

SeventhSight and Aria drove through the night, the desert landscape stretching out before them like an endless sea of gold. They finally arrived at the ancient ruins of Zerzura in modern day Iraq, the sun beating down on them like a hammer.

Aria pulled out a map, studying it intently, “The entrance to the ruins should be around here somewhere.”

SeventhSight nodded, his eyes scanning the horizon, “I’ll find it.”

He walked off, his magic guiding him through the winding dunes. Suddenly, he stopped, his eyes fixed on something in the distance.

Aria followed his gaze, her eyes widening, “What is that?”

SeventhSight’s voice was grim, “It’s the entrance. And it’s guarded.”

SeventhSight raised his hand, and a blast of Tenebrous Force shot out, striking the guards and sending them flying. The Tenebrous Force was followed by a wave of Luminous Aura, blinding the guards and disorienting them. Aria charged forward, her staff spinning in her hands. She unleashed a flurry of Chrono Strikes, her Aevum magic creating temporal loops that repeated her attacks multiple times. The guards were quickly overwhelmed, and soon they lay defeated at SeventhSight’s and Aria’s feet.

As they made their way deeper into the ancient structure, the air grew colder and the shadows seemed to twist and writhe around them. SeventhSight could feel the power of the Carrionlord emanating from up ahead.

Finally, they entered a large chamber, and there, at the far end, stood the Carrionlord. She was a towering figure, her body a mass of writhing, pulsing tendrils. Her face was a twisted mockery of a human visage, with eyes that burned with an otherworldly green fire.

SeventhSight drew his sword, its blade shimmering with Luminous Aura. Aria stood beside him, her staff at the ready.

“You’re just in time to witness the beginning of my new world order,” the Carrionlord hissed, her voice like a thousand snakes slithering through dry leaves.

SeventhSight sneered, We’ll never let that happen.

The Carrionlord laughed, the sound like thunder in the chamber, “We’ll see about that.”

Suddenly, the chamber was filled with the sound of footsteps, and a group of Erebus’s minions appeared, surrounding the Carrionlord. They were heavily armed and armored, wielding advanced technology infused with dark magic.

The Carrionlord sneered, summoning a wave of dark energy to strike down the minions. But they were prepared. One of the minions, a hulking brute wielding a massive gun, fired a blast of energy that absorbed the Carrionlord’s attack. Another minion, a lithe woman wielding a pair of curved swords, leapt forward and struck the Carrionlord with a flurry of swift and deadly blows.

The Carrionlord stumbled back, taken aback by the minions’ skill and technology. The brute minion followed up with a blast of fire from his gun, striking the Carrionlord and sending her stumbling back.

SeventhSight and Aria exchanged a glance, and then they charged forward, determined to stop Erebus’ plans. But they were too late. The minions quickly overpowered the Carrionlord, pinning her to the ground.

Erebus himself appeared, a twisted smile on his face. He raised his hand, and the Carrionlord was enveloped in a dark energy field. She screamed in rage and pain as Erebus began to drain her powers.

SeventhSight snarled, raising his sword, “You’ll never get away with this!”

Erebus laughed, “I already have.”

SeventhSight charged forward, his sword flashing in the dim light of the chamber. Aria followed close behind, her staff spinning in her hands. Erebus watched them come, a smile on his face, “How predictable.” He raised his hand, and a wave of dark energy shot out, striking SeventhSight and Aria and sending them flying across the chamber. SeventhSight struggled to his feet, his sword still clutched in his hand, “You’re not getting away that easily!”

Erebus chuckled, “Oh, but I already have.” He turned to his minions, “Finish them off. I have the Carrionlord’s powers to attend to.”

The minions charged forward, but SeventhSight and Aria were ready. They fought bravely, but they were outnumbered. Just when it seemed like all was lost, SeventhSight remembered the words of an ancient prophecy: “In the heart of darkness, there is always a spark of light.”

SeventhSight focused all his energy on that spark, and a blast of Luminous Aura shot out, driving the minions back. Erebus took advantage of the distraction to escape, the Carrionlord’s powers surging through him, “Until next time, SeventhSight…”
