SeventhSight charged towards Oblivion with his sword drawn, ready to strike. But before he could attack, Oblivion vanished, only to reappear behind SeventhSight, his hand on his shoulder. “You are no match for me, SeventhSight. You may have bested my son in the past, but he has grown stronger. And soon, he will be strong enough to destroy you.” SeventhSight spun around, but Oblivion was too quick. He appeared behind Leni, his hand around her throat. “Leave now, SeventhSight, or your friend will die.” SeventhSight hesitated for a moment, then turned to run, but it was too late. Oblivion had already tightened his grip on Leni’s throat, and she fell to the ground, unconscious.

Erebus looked at Leni’s unconscious body, then at SeventhSight. Something in his eyes flickered, and for a moment, SeventhSight thought he saw the old Erebus, his friend, his brother. But then it was gone, replaced by the cold, hard stare of Oblivion’s puppet. “SeventhSight, you have a choice to make,” Erebus said. “Join me, and you will be rewarded beyond your wildest dreams. Refuse me, and you will suffer a slow and painful death. What will it be, brother?”

SeventhSight laughed. “You’re not my brother. My brother would never threaten me.” He charged forward, but before he could reach Erebus, Kairos raised his hand, and a blast of energy shot out, striking SeventhSight and sending him flying across the room. SeventhSight crashed through the window and fell to the ground outside.

SeventhSight stood, his sword at the ready. Kairos followed, his body glowing with energy. The two enemies faced off, their powers locked in a fierce stare. Suddenly, Kairos vanished, only to reappear behind SeventhSight. But SeventhSight was quick, and he spun around, his sword flashing in the light. Kairos blocked the blow with his arm, and the two clashed, their powers locked in a fierce battle.

The Chinese soldiers arrived, surrounding the two. Kairos smiled, and his body began to shift and contort. He began to multiply, his form splitting into five, ten, fifteen copies of himself. The soldiers opened fire, but the Kairoses dodged and weaved, avoiding the bullets with ease.

SeventhSight took advantage of the distraction, striking out at the original Kairos. But the other Kairoses were too much for the soldiers, and they soon overpowered them. The original Kairos grabbed SeventhSight and threw him to the ground. Then all the Kairoses turned to him, their eyes blazing with energy. SeventhSight struggled to get up, but it was too late. The Kairoses unleashed a blast of energy, sending SeventhSight flying across the ground.

Erebus appeared, standing over SeventhSight. “You should have joined me,” he said. “Now, you’ll never be able to stop me.” He turned to Kairos. “Come, my friend. We have a realm to conquer.” The Kairoses merged back into one, and he followed Erebus to a portal that led to the Abyssal Spire.

The Chinese soldiers struggled to get up, but they were too late. Erebus and Kairos had already escaped through the portal. The soldiers regrouped, tending to their wounded and trying to make sense of what had just happened. In the conference room, the Chinese and US presidents stared at the broken window in shock. “What just happened?” the Chinese president asked. “I don’t know,” the US president replied, “but I think we just lost our only lead on the Carrionborn plague. We have to find SeventhSight and get him back on our side.”

The US president’s voice came through the comms system. “SeventhSight, we need you to regroup at New Eden. We have to figure out what just happened and what to do next. New Eden is an independent city state in the American Union. It’s the perfect place for us to plan our next move.”

SeventhSight stood, his body battered and bruised. He looked up at the broken window, then back at the city. He knew he had to go to New Eden, but he didn’t want to leave Leni. Suddenly, he heard a groan. Leni was coming to. He rushed to her side, helping her sit up. “Leni, are you okay?” She nodded, still dazed. “What happened?” SeventhSight helped her stand. “Erebus and Kairos escaped. I have to go to New Eden. The US president needs me.” Leni looked at him, concern in her eyes, “Be careful.”

“I’ll be fine,” he said. “I’ll see you soon.” He gave her a hug, then turned and left.
